The story behind the sound
Akin Orbay creates fresh and innovative music for visual media, blending pop, electronic music and hip hop. Drawing from the meanings and associations that music can evoke, he strives to create detailed stories out of sound; whether it’s for the voice of an artist or the images on-screen. In 2017, Orbay graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in both the Contemporary Writing and Production and Professional Music departments. Since then, his music has been featured in a growing list of shows on Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime. In 2023, the film The Commuted – which he co-composed with Kelly Mac – won the Audience Award and the Louisiana Documentary Award at its premiere at the New Orleans Film Festival.
