The story behind the sound
Lester grew up in the studio, surrounded by world-class musicians and engineers. He cut his engineering teeth early on, watching and learning from the pros and applying it to his own projects, developing a natural and understated sound. Though he’s toured the world as a bass player and worked on primetime TV productions as an engineer, his main focus remains writing and producing. Alongside personal projects The Odd 910 and 2nd Exit (with long-time collaborator Alfa Mist) and featuring on tracks under various aliases, his writing and production credits include Jordan Rakei, Pip Millett, Barney Artist, Alfa Mist, Kwaku Asante and more. Dedicated to passing knowledge down to the next generation, Lester teaches Production Skills on the Jazz courses at London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
