The story behind the sound
A versatile talent, Jason Petrin is a producer, songwriter and engineer working within the realms of hip hop, pop and electronic music. Graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2004, Petrin began his career working in studios in and around Boston, producing and engineering records for a variety of bands, artists and rappers. In 2005, he became one half of the DJ duo Jefr Tale, with whom he hosted a weekly radio show on SiruisXM, produced a string of successful releases and performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals, including the Ultra Music Festival, the Global Dance Festival and Burning Man. Following the successes of Jefr Tale, Petrin plunged deeper into electronic production, collaborating with other DJs and producers and branching out into hip-hop production and pop songwriting. In 2018, Jason returned to Berklee as a member the Electronic Production and Design department. He continues to divide his time between producing, engineering, writing and teaching.
