The story behind the sound
Samuel Read is a prolific British composer, orchestrator and conductor working across film and TV. His music ranges from delicate and inventive sound worlds to colourful orchestral scores, characterised by a fresh and distinctive style. Samuel’s work includes the IDA-winning and RTS-nominated documentary Lettre à Elie and the film Rider starring Chaneil Kular. As an orchestrator, he has collaborated on projects with composers including Lorne Balfe (Black Adam, Argylle, Ghosted) Blair Mowat (McDonald & Dodds, Lot No. 249) and Anthony Willis (M3gan). Samuel has worked with composer and arranger Ben Foster on a variety of projects including albums for the pianist Chloe Flower as well as live shows such as Disney's The Sound of Magic, Dua Lipa Live and The Beatles Live at Abbey Road Studios. He has also assisted and provided additional orchestration for film and TV projects including The Book of Clarence and Happy Valley. As an experienced studio conductor, Samuel has worked on projects including The Tree of Many Faces and ITV’s Ridley at AIR Studios in London.
Samuel has worked with composer and arranger Ben Foster on a variety of projects including live shows such as Disney's The Sound of Magic, Dua Lipa Live and The Beatles Live at Abbey Road Studios.
