The story behind the sound

Shy Maxwell is a Ghanaian-American music producer, film composer and artist from Los Angeles. His sound is a unique mash up of West Coast, Midwestern, Southern and West African influences, inspired by both his environment and his cultural upbringing. Shy started out as a producer competing in local beat battles before performing background vocals for various writers and producers. His natural talent and versatility landed him on the Birth of a Nation soundtrack, backing R&B vocalist Trey Songz, and on Kendrick Lamar’s Billboard chart-topping Black Panther soundtrack, providing initial production support. Shy's unique sound also makes him an ideal collaborator within the film industry. He's worked with many emerging directors, composing scores for shorts such as NFL 360's The Chief Who Walked The Sea, which received four Emmy nominations. His decision to step out from behind the board with his debut EP ALIESHA propelled him into the world of sync, and latest EP AGOO is a project that embodies his journey to this point.
