The story behind the sound
Manchester composer and sound designer Max Brodie draws inspiration from a wide net, citing both rock icon Slash and film score composer Rolfe Kent as influences. Not to be constrained to any one sound, Max playfully toys with synth pop, crafting energetic, frenetic songs to bop around to. Sugary and quirky, these songs evoke a beautiful summer day where everything is going right — all green lights and no stop signs. A musical Magellan, Max also delivers more ambient, spacious sounds and danceable disco grooves. With titles such as “Hyperactive Electro Monkeys” and “Explorer of Puppet Island” that would do Dr. Seuss proud, Max’s brain is a playground that we’re lucky enough to get a chance to experience through his music.
