The story behind the sound
Londoner Matt Nasir’s emotionally-charged composing lifts listeners to an ethereal place beyond our ordinary daily existence. This resonance wasn’t easily gained. Matt has spent nearly a decade performing in The Sleeping Souls, Frank Turner’s live and studio band. That very band played the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In addition to his keyboard work, Matt contributes on baritone guitar for Möngöl Hörde, Turner’s side project, and also performed with Andy Yorke. Matt composes from the road, infusing the energy of the live crowd, his influences including Philip Glass and Jonny Greenwood, and an ever-evolving musical aesthetic. Celtic influence can be heard in his piano-led compositions as well as his Irish folk-punk album.
