The story behind the sound
Mamadou Yattassaye is a 24-year-old poet, filmmaker and songwriter from Harlem, New York. As a first-generation Malian, his stories illuminate the dynamic interiority of vulnerable African stories, while his creative practice deliberates the in-betweens. His work has been commissioned by brands including Nike, Polaroid and Seventh. Mamadou currently is a MFA Candidate at the University of Iowa.
