The story behind the sound
Kes Loy started his musical education studying classical guitar and taking piano lessons. Once he hit his teens, however, his influences shifted to the hard rocking guitar sounds of Van Halen, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani. His rock career highlights included a Maida Vale session for Radio One, playing with bands such as Girlschool and Terrorvision. He also enjoyed the honour of a John Peel Session on Radio One with his band Leafeater. He also experienced chart success with his other band Malibu Stacey (formed with Terrorvision bassist Leigh Marklew). Kes sees the benefit of creating songs for screen usage in that it allows him to explore all genres of music without the limits imposed by writing for a band.
