The story behind the sound
New Zealand/Swedish composer Karl Steven has established himself as a go-to artist for crafting music to picture, composing soundtracks for documentaries and commercials and themes for numerous television shows. Coupling a Ph.D. in Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy from Trinity College Cambridge with his work as a sound engineer/producer on both tape and digital media, Karl balances his thoughtful academic and grounded studio backgrounds. In 2013, Karl was the recipient of the APRA PDA award for film and television and attended the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop at New York University. The son of a filmmaker and a writer, Karl understands the power and necessity of storytelling, always using his well-trained ear to support the narrative.
