The story behind the sound
Award-winning music producer and musician Ivan Duran has been working in the Central American and Caribbean region for the past 25 years. His label Stonetree Records is one of the leading independent record labels and recording studios in Belize. He has produced over 40 albums, many of which have received international critical acclaim. Duran particularly introduced the world to Garifuna music with artists like Aurelio and Andy Palacio & The Garifuna Collective, receiving the prestigious WOMEX award for the Watina album. Duran works with international artists who share his vision of a new World Music, which pushes the boundaries of traditional music styles and reinvents classic genres. He collaborated on platinum-selling album ‘Far From Home’, with Manu Chao and Kobo Town’s frontman Drew Gonsalves, together with winning the 2018 Juno Award for Best World Music album.
