The story behind the sound
Dria Thornton is an award-winning songwriter, producer and featured vocalist. As a voting member of The Recording Academy, Dria is a respected force in the music industry. In her illustrious career so far, she has been a featured vocalist for/has collaborated with artists including 2Chainz, Rick Ross, Logic, TechN9ne, Lecrae, Meek Mill, Young Thug, Killer Mike, Big K.R.I.T, The Hoodies, Ali Vegas and Mobb Deep. In addition to her work creating music for Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, MTV and VH1, Dria is the media and social music supervisor for tennis megastar Serena Williams, providing background themes for such ventures as Williams’ collaboration with Lincoln Motors. A native of Houston, Texas, Dria’s goal is “to create music that becomes the soundtrack of our community.” Her love and commitment to her birth city is reflected in her services as the Houston Inspira Storyteller for Kashmere Gardens and 5th Ward communities, and as the Treasurer for the City of Houston, Music Advisory Board. Through her work with the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy, Dria is a strong advocate for legislative rights of music creators.
