The story behind the sound
Best known for his production work for MOBO Award Winners DJ Luck, MC Neat and Jay Jay, Shy Cookie has been producing hit UK Garage music since 1998 (debuting with a remix of ‘El Paraiso Rico’ - released as a DJ Luck and MC Neat track). He went on to co-produce DJ Luck and Neat’s album ‘It’s all good’, released on Island records in 2002. Shy Cookie returned to education to get his music degree (achieving a first class in 2012). Since graduating from Middlesex Shy Cookie/Alex Mercier has been working full time at the university. In 2015 Shy Cookie and Ormshi went into partnership, building a studio, label and band (The House & Garage Orchestra). In addition to music production and DJ’ing, Shy also produces music videos and live music sets which he also hosts as an MC. The label (Audio Intuition) launched with strong support from DJ Spoony who championed the first release, ‘Levitation’.
